Well, sorry for the delay but I didnt get to make the trip to look at the $1000.00 corvette until yesterday. Here is the scoop, we get to the storage place the car is at and we see the top of the car (barely) because of the all the weeds that have grown up around it. We get the door open and battle with 2 of the biggest wasp nests i have ever seen in my life, (did you know carb cleaner was a good wasp repellent? ). The cars interior is in pretty bad shape but not that big of a deal. We open the battery access door and fight a small family of mice to get the battery out and install a battery we had brought with us. Believe it or not this car fired on about the third rotation of the engine without any starting fluid ( quadrajets well plugs must be in pretty good shape huh?). to make a long story short, tranny engages, good solid brake pedal, coolant level ok. So do we tow it back? Of coarse not where is the adventure in that? Its only 350 miles back to Cincinnati Ohio . . Thats right we drove this car back home. Pictures are posted in my gallery and I do have some concerns. The numbers on this car indicate it is a 1976 along with the title, however look at the rear window and front and rear bumpers, it all looks like 78-80 parts. Still investigating I have seen no sign of any type of major work done on this car. It was bought from a bank so I know the title is legal? Look at pics and tell me what you think of this deal?

I can't believe you drove it home! 350 miles? When was the last time that thing was started? Wow, it's a steal at $1000. Are those trans am wheels?

Look like mid 80's Trans-am of Firebird wheels to me. Car looks good though for a $1000 you can't go wrong. I agree with you on the 78-80 styling I'd like to know what you find out about it.

wtf...

Those are definately 80-82 front and rear bumpers..as well as the rocker panels. Rear glass is from the same years. The seats are from the 80-82 years. What kinda of gas door emblem does it have on it..chrome cross flags or black plastic..chrome indicating 80..black indicating 81. The chrome rear window trim is indicative of an 80 year model. But the damn dash and center console are pre 80...wtf?!!?

Here is what i can tell you so far about questions asked, the speedo read 150 I think, I know it is more than 85mph. The wheels are off a Pontiac Grand Am what year im not sure but they sure had me worried on the road trip back. The emblem on the gas lid is the chrome cross flags not plastic. And it has an interior code for leather package beige and the orginal color is the ugly brown  . Ill let you know more about it when I find out. By the way I found this car in Cisne, Illinois

Grand Am? I'm surprised the wheels didn't rub majorly! Seeing as the Grand Am is front-wheel-drive.

So, what are your first plans for the car?

have you run the VIN yet. That looks more like an '80 then anything else. I bet you put some air in the tires and sell it for 5K tommorrow.

The dash etc looks like a 76 but the seat and body look like they came from a 80? .

If you have 3 door storage then it is prior to 1979E. After that the 2 compartment was implemented

Yea, where do you start?
If it is not catching on fire, always start with the brakes. :)
