I am kind of the market for a new car. I don't particularly need a new car, and I love my current '96 MX-6 M. The only thing I really don't like about it is the power. It's faster than most cars on the road, but I just feel like I have to try too hard to go fast. What I would really love to do is turbo-charge the MX-6. A well-tuned turbo 2.5 V6 running 7-9 psi will take just about anything once you are rolling (FWD traction sucks). However, I need another car to do that, and I don't want some crappy beater.

I have always wanted a vette, but when I moved here I decided it would be better to put my money into a house first. Right now, the problem with the vette is that I wouldn't have much to spare on for the MX-6. So I was looking at the RX-8. Very nice car, but 160 ft lbs of torque is not what I am looking for. Besides the 2004 is all messed up and gets about 16mpg at best, and it only getting about 190hp to the wheels. Maybe the 2005 will be better, but by that time the C6 will be out.

So I have pretty much decided to not worry about the MX-6 and just get the car I always wanted. If I get the extra cash and time, maybe I will get a turbo on her, but it's about time I got my vette.

But here's the question. Do I get a new or slightly used Z06 for (40k - 47k)? Or do I wait for the C6? Will I even be able to get a C6? And what will it cost? If it's going to cost me 20k more than a Z06 than forget it.

It is going to be a nicer car, and the thing I hate most about the C5 is the GM parts bin interior, but worth 20k more, definitely not.

I would like to see arguments for a 02-04 Z06 vs. a 05 C6. I guess we won't be able to make a good call until the car is unveiled. I can't wait until Jan 4th!

Best advice I can give is go over to www.z06vette.com and spend like 37-38 grand for a very low mileage 2002 or 2003 Z06.

Check out the owners history using the search feature and you'll be able to see which car best suits you.

Off the top of my head I would suggest a search on...Carzzy.

Its a silver 03 Z06 w/ around 3K miles for 38 grand firm I believe. He was just thinking of selling it rather than storing it for the winter.

if you like a Silver Z06 thats mint..check his car out.

Good luck..

and for 37/38 grand you can't do better. Its an awesome car.

You may run into a problem a lot of vette owners have experienced. Once you get the Z06 you might not want to drive anything else. I say this seriously.

I am actually pretty much decided on yellow. I hate all the yellow Mustangs and Cavaliers, but the Z06 is one of the few cars that has the balls to be yellow.

I looked on vettefinders and there was one with just 1400 miles. I would like to find someone who has already put on the chrome Z06 rims, but that is stretching it, and I could always get htem later.

However, I also noticed a dealer offering invoice on '04s. With the C6, I can easily see that being under invoice, maybe 46k even.

You can usually get a lower APR on new than used, so it may be worth it to go new.

Amen brotha. They say yellow is a girly color, but give me a yellow Corvette, any generation, and you won't hear me complaining; They all look amazing. Still think yellow is girly? Kiss the bumber of my Millenium Yellow Z06; or at least I wish.

Now is the time to buy a Z06 - I traded in a 2002 perfect Z & only got 30,000 trade in, The market is a its low & will go up when the C5's come out due to price increase & warm weather.

You may want to go haggle w/ your local dealer. I sold my '00 hard top in August & was waiting for the c6 to come. A couple of weeks ago I went to the dealership to test drive an'04 ZO6....two hours later I drove off th lot with it. The best part is I got it for $46,300.00. Point being, you can find good deals @ the dealerships!

Kerbeck is selling Z06's at 45,300 now, I am thinking January will drop the Z06 prices even lower.

The C6 only has 400hp, which seems kind of fishy to me. It has the wonderful 400 sound to it, but not quite the 405 the Z06 has. Everyone knows that Chevy underrated the Camaro to sell more Corvettes, while would this be any different.

The base MSRP of the C6 is $47k according to the press, so depending on weight and handling, there is almost no reason to buy a Z06 over a C6 except for price.

My guess is that the 04 Z06's will be rolling off the lots for about $42k while the 05 C6's will be demanding well over 50.
