hi everyone, i was arguing for the past week with my friends about Z06 and Mercedes SL63 which are unfortunatily all Mercedes fans, they were saying that SL 63 would beat the ZO6 on a 1 mile run, although i got them alot of figures but they still wanna better prove. can anyone of u help me in this battle? how many seconds does it take the Z06 to reach 200 miles? iam sure that the vette is gonna be the winner coz its simply fasttttt and mercedes is heavy car.

0-190mph takes around 45 seconds, 200 might take a minute or so... I'm pretty anxious to see if the SL63 ever gets to 200mph..:lookinup:

I want to say that this is a no brainer, the Mercedes engine makes 503BHP and is in a car that weighs what about 4,500 pounds. It took a beefed up Supercharged and modified SL to run with a Z06 some time ago if you guys remember that race at a roll. If its a standing start then its an even bigger slaughter in favor of the Corvette Z06.

It's rated at 198mph.. But we all know of the GPS-clocked 205mph autobahn run with the stock C6 Z (right?).. I'd say most Z06's will run 200mph... But I might be wrong... The 'vette will still win I think:laughing:

if it is an SL65, with the 6** horsepower, it will be a close race. but those cars are limited to 155 miles per hour electronically. The only reason it would be a close race is because of the 700+ lb ft of torque.

There is no SL 63.....there is an SL550 making 300+HP, there is the SL 55 AMG making 500+ and the SL600 making 500+ HP and then there is the SL 65 AMG making 600+HP.

The SL 65 is a good race for the C6 Z06. There have been a few skilled drivers who have beaten SL 65's at the QM track but not all of them.

Several guys have written about their track experiences with them. I'm not sure what would happen if the race kept going? The SL 65 has something like 700 lbs ft of torque.:huh:

Thanks alot guys, i really appreciate ur help. btw the 6.3 mercedes engine is not supercharged. but to conclude its not a competitor for the vette but the SL65 is. btw guys Top gear tried both Z06 and CL 65 in serperate episodes and the Z06 got in there lap 1 minute and 22 sec while the CL65 got 1 minute and 29 sec :smack

The AMG S65 is slower than a Z06. I am only a little faster than a stock C6Z06 and in my one encounter with the AMG it was no contest. He stayed close from a 45mph roll but as the speeds went up I continued to edge away.

he wants to know about the SL65 which is totally different than the S65--either way--the only mercedes that can compete with the Z06 is probably the SLR--i think...
