From corveteHID.com comes the group purchase you have all been waiting for! 1968-1982 corvette LED replacement tail lights:partyon:

Choose from standard LED tail lights, clear LED tails or bubble LED tails. Included in this kit is a set of four (4) new Chevrolet Corvette LED tail lights for the 1968 to 1982 Corvette. This is a direct replacement plug and play kit. Installs in about an hour.

Each tail light is illuminated by super bright red LED's, has an 1157 plug, durable polycarbonate lens, a solid state circuit board and fully sealed electronics which are epoxy-coated. These lights are designed for 7.7 - 14.0 VDC and are SAE/DOT compliant.

L.E.D. lights last longer, shine brighter and light faster than conventional bulbs, providing additional safety. Plugs directly into stock bulb socket, thus avoiding the need to cut into stock wiring harness.

This kit will certainly wake up the rear end of your corvette and help bring it back into the 21st century! To eliminate the possibility of your turn signals not working, or hyper flash, we recommend that you install an electronic flasher in place of your stock flasher.

These items are being offered as a group purchase. The introductory price will be $129.00 plus S&H. Once all 10 spots have been filled, production of these lights will begin and you can expect your tail lights to ship in 1-2 weeks after that time.

Does the flasher come with the kit and is it a plug in to the original harness

This is a direct replacement plug and play kit which plugs into the original harness. For 1975-1979 Corvettes customers will need to trim the plastic mounting leg to match the length of the 1975-1979 tail light mounting leg. (match the leg length to your specific stock lights)

The flasher is not included. However it can be bought for about $5 bucks at any local auto parts store, such as auto zone.

Since your price quoted above - $129 plus S&H - is the same as your web site price, I'm trying to understand why this is called a "group purchase"?

That term implies a bit of a price break for forum members, but I don't see one here.

?????
The price break is for all customers until the 10 orders have been filled. Since we advertise on more than one forum and at some local car shows, it was easier to adjust the price on the website rather than having a special promo code like we usually do for each event that we participate at:thumbsup:

I have already purchased a set of Bubble LEDs for my ride and I also got a nice little trick license plate cover that has built in LEDs for the reverse.

one tip to keep in mind for you guys the LED lights do not have reverse lights built in you either give them up or you find a alternative like I did.

P.S. I also paid quit a bit more for just the LED tail lights wish I had seen this sooner.

.
That can be a problem. Product not thought out well?

Can the center LED's be removed and the backup lights and lens inserted?

I have heard alot of guys say that all you need is to replace the flasher with a heavy duty one.

My flasher plugs into the fuse panel. I have seen others that dont.

I am not sure if that makes mine eletric or not.

I belive some style LEDs have the reverse lights built in but the bubble lenses do not.

You need to replace the flasher with a 3 prong electronic flasher because the LED tail lights don't have enough electrical current draw to trigger the old style bi-metallic flasher unit that was installed on our C3 Vettes. I did the conversion and am quite happy with it, I went the 4 tail light route and lost the back-up lights. I feel so much better now knowing "Cammie Chen" may actually look up from her "texting on the cell phone while driving duties" and stop before she hits my Vette when I slow down.

Mine must be electric cause it was a 3 prong that plugged into the fuse box, I only saw a place for one I know it fixed my hazard light problem where they were alternat blinking, as far as turning signal flasher I did not even know there was a seperate one? anyone else have a 82 that knows if there is a second flasher?

Go here http://www.superbrightleds.com/truck_lights.htm

Click on ST series Truck Stop/Tail/Turn Lights

Just shy of $92 (that includes the rubber mounting flanges and the pig tails) and they're better lookng lights, IMO! Also, a standard flasher works just fine - well, don't sue me, but MY standard flasher worked ok!

You have to do more than knock off the price of a Starbucks cuppa to entice me into a (touchy feely) group buy. Sorry, but there's far better deals out there...

Imho

I have 4 "bubble" lights and just don't feel I need back up lights........my windows are tinted so dark a little light does me no good at all, and besides, I usually am moving in a forward direction so they do nothing for me. I converted my inner lights to double as brake lights and the outer's are still turn signals. So when I brake all 4 lights glow and that is the look I wanted. I am also pretty sure I saw an 1157 led light...(maybe 9 or 10 lights in a cluster just bigger than the original)... to just install like the normal one, doubt it is as bright as what I see here.
Great debate and info though

If you dont want to lose reverse lights do what I did, I got a license plate frame holder that has LED strips built into it all I have to do is splice them into the reverse light wires, and then I am good to go.

We are working out a few more details, and should be carrying this item within the next few days.
