My air bag trouble light went on. It was a code 26, and the sensor checked OK. The protocal is to replace the DERM module, which I have removed. It is a major tear apart to get to it! Before I buy a new one, has anyone had a similar problem. Thanks from a new contibutor.

Air Bag Sensor GND

Code 26 is a sensor fault (RH).

The Service Manual indicates before testing, be sure the sensor is properly attached to the frame rail.

Loss of GND contact from the sensor body to the frame rail is a common occurrance on '90 Corvettes. Because this is so common, I doubt your DERM needs replacement.

Usually, all that is necessary is to remove the sensor, clean/scuff up both the sensor mounting plate and the frame rail, replace the sensor (I replace to bare metal contact, but you can also use dialectic grease) and then repaint over any exposed/bare metal.

And once one side loses GND, I reset the opposite sensor as well. Once reset, I've never had to return to the problem.

For those who don't know, the sensors are located on the top of the frame rails, just ahead of the battery and on the same area/line, opposite of the battery.
