Did I read that right off of your website? From what I understand your're saying that there will only be 131 corvettes in 2006 that will have the Z51 package? Please tell me I'm wrong!

It means that as of 9/29/05 there are 131 available Corvettes with Z51 and that quantities are being very tightly controlled at this moment. For what reason, I don't think anyone knows for sure. It does not mean there will only be 131 Z51's available for all of '06, it just means they are on constraint for the time being.

No, not on Z51 anyway. The Z51 package is for suspension and ride related items (brakes, etc). All chevy suspensions are named in this way. An engine always has an RPO beginning with "L."

IF they are revising anything, I would guess the revision to be the brakes. To my knowledge that is the only part that has drawn ire for being a little lackluster in performance. That said, I doubt there are any revisions being made as it's too late. Since 2006 Z51s have already shipped, that would make this a mid year switch. Sure that happens, but it's rare and extremely rare after so few of the Z51s have shipped. I'm not sure, but that might be unprecedented which makes it very unlikely.

The General is nothing if not consistent.

The word is Z51 gets worse mileage so this option has to be rationed to raise the average mileage.

Why would this be a problem in 2006 with the 6-speed auto with higher rear end ratio belping out, when 2005 had performance axles and 4-speed auto?

Could it be they need better C6 mileage to support the Z06 in 2006? Betcha.

Who says it gets worse mileage? Maybe, but it's probably negligible in the grand scheme. I averaged 27 on the highway in mine on the way from Detroit to Texas with zero to 1300 miles on the odometer. Not bad for a green engine running 75 the entire trip...
