Corvette's Design Limits Radar

I heard somewhere that the design of the Corvette, being somewhat of a wedge, deflects radar upwards instead of strait back to the radar gun. If this is true, the Corvette would be much harder to lock on than a regular car or truck.

Laser works in a different sense that the cop has to actually aim at a certain spot of the car that is reflective. This also makes me wonder if it is harder for cops to get a speed on Corvettes because there isn't any flat reflective surface if the headlights are not up. The running lights may allow some reflection of the laser, but a laser jammer can fix that.

So, my idea is to buy a laser jammer set. Either a Blinder M20, or a Bel 904 along with the new Valentine One with pop mode. I believe that this is one of the best setups to prevent tickets.

Does anyone else have any opinions on this?

A couple of months ago, I witnessed a demonstration of Virginia State and Local LEO radar and laser speed acquisition equipment and techniques.

After having seen how bullet-proof their techniques and systems are, including radar detector detectors, I'm never going over 9 mph over the posted speed limit anywhere in Virginia. You don't stand a chance in Virginia.

I am sure it would help in some forms, one way or another...but there is no way I would put full reliance on it! Sure the V1 will help for detecting radars, but what about in states where they are illegal? And a jammer, correct me if I am wrong but they are illegal too, correct? And again, you can't put full reliance on something like that, the combination would help, but not to the point where you can drive without a care about speed.

And about the Corvette being shaped to limit radar, doubt it.

In regards to the use of laser, think of it this way.

You walk in to your garage and turn on a flashlight, instantly you get some of the light reflected back at you, this is kind of the same way that laser works, a laser beam is shot at your car, the light hitting the surface will reflect back, and the laser gun measures the dime for the light to bounce back, after a couple of pulses they have a accurate measurement of your speed, not too much you can do about that.

Radar.

The waves from radar may bounce off of the hood of the car, but some of the waves penetrate the hood and hit something solid like the engine block, the radiator, or some other solid piece of the car and then bounces back to the gun, and they get their measurement of your speed.

There are systems out there that can Jam both laser and radar, but if you get caught with one installed and in use it is pretty bad news for you.

This is how a officer friend explained it to me, in laymen’s terms, makes sense to me.

Best piece of advice, if you must speed, keep it reasonable, 5 to 7 over the limit on the freeway and under 5 on residential roads, if you need more speed then that, go to a road track, pay your entry fee, and get your fill for speed there in a controlled environment where a 3 year old girl is not going to wander out in to the road chasing that ball, and if you wreck it, there are safety crews available to assist.

Yes..forget about it!

Jamming radar is a felony offense finable to 75,000. Worth it to get a ticket in my opinion instead of getting caught.

I passed a cop using laser once and I was doing at least 10 over (not intentionally of course)!

I saw the cop and hit the brakes. It was clear the cop could not get a reading because he kept pointing the thing at me even as I passed.

He surely would have told me to pull over if I was going more than 10 over the limit!
