I have heard that changing out the hood struts is a 2-man job. Has anyone done this by themselves? Any tricks if doing it by yourself?

as long as you have something to prop the hood up, it is easily a 1 man job.

I have probably replaced hundreds of them over the years. have yet to have 1 slip of a hood prop. There is no reason it would slip off unless you shake the hell out of the hood.

If you have seen any of my posts, you'll see that my hood comes off and on like its made that way...

I usually just hold it up with one hand and slip the strut on and then lower it down but don't latch it, then I raise it up and put the other strut on. All by myself.

Putting it on to put the bolts back in...that's a two man job.

I recently changed both my hood struts. Never even thought about having help. Wasn't needed. I just let the hood rest on my shoulder while I changed the strut.

Didn't even need to do that for the second one. The new one held the hood up all by itself.
