Dylan you are correct that is not normal operation....sounds like you "probably" need a headlight actuator control module.....they run anywhere from $80-180 and you could install it yourself with minimal tools and moderate technical ability if you felt like "shotgunning it" or I'd recommend seeking a dealer or other qualified technician to take a look at the system:thumbsup:
also seems to be a problem with the headlight gear issue as i also hear a grinding noise when the headlight is fully closed.. hopefully the two are realted and can be fixed with the metal gear i ordered.
I agree to some extent but the headlight was grinding before it started only popping up when just the parking lights came on, i will find out as soon as i change the gear and if need be i guess i will buy a new motor
On my car:
If you turn on the headlights first so that they pop up and then turn the knob back to parking lights, the headlights will turn off but they do not pop down.
I know that this is not the answer to your problem, but maybe it is useful to know when you do the fault finding...
mine reacts the same in the fact the headlights will remain up after they have been turned on then back off with the parking lights on, its just the headlights come on with the parking lights initially switched on.
i will install the new headlight gear and see if that works and if so then i will know this is yet another indication of the gear problem.
got the new CNC gear in and fixed both problems! grinding and the weird headlight coming up when it shouldn't. 45 bones instead of 150, is fine by me :excited:
