I got my set of 6 spicers, the half shaft ones went in easy, but the driveshaft ones do not fit.

when i pressed the caps on, i could not get one of them to go in far enough for the snap rings to go on. both of the u joints on the driveshaft front and rear cracked the plastic rings. the first one i over tightened way too much, so that was my fault, but the second one had one cap all the way against the the snap ring, and the other snap ring was barely too thick to fit in. can i buy new plastic rings or do i have to buy whole new joints?
it seems like the driveshaft is not wide enough for the cap to fit in with snap rings, like it was bent inward even though the journals are both parallel to each other.

Make sure every bit of crud is cleaned out of the snap ring groove. I've had to tear everything apart and clean the grooves more than once to get the snap rings in. Just a thought.

Yes those plastic caps break easy. Interested to hear if there are replacements available.

As far as I know, the only guy that has the extra plastic rings is Gary. I looked everywhere for them, and found that they are impossible to get. I even heard of vendors trying to get them directly from Spicer, and they were unsuccessful.

Usually the 1/2 shaf tjoints are the problem. I did a set of shafts yesterday and they went together without any broken rings. I have new rings that I send out when someone buys a joint from me.

Be sure they are snapped in place and there are no needles in the cap. Do you have the 5x790 joints.

the box says 5-785X- that is what fastcorvette or duntovcorvette sent me for a 69 4 speed driveshaft
